David Lindley was known by many as Jackson Browne's accompanist playing pedal steel guitar, slide guitar, fiddle and a variety of other stringed instruments.
We're sad to hear the news of David Lindley's death on March 4th. As Rolling Stone Magazine stated: "David Lindley, Multi-Instrumentalist Who Shaped the Sound of Soft Rock, Dead at 78". In addition to Jackson Browne, David Lindley collaborated with the likes of , Dolly Parton, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Toto, Rod Stewart, Linda Ronstadt, Joe Walsh, Warren Zevon, Bonnie Raitt, Curtis Mayfield, Dolly Parton and Ry Cooder.
An active musician since the Sixties, Lindley was a popular session musician whose skillset when it came to playing string instruments like the fiddle and guitar made him a must-have collaborator. He played in the band "Kaleidoscope" in the 60's and in 1981, formed his own band El Rayo-X. Jackson Browne produced their first album. .
Several days after his death, Browne shared a touching tribute for Lindley, saying he fave his “personality and his inspiration to so many of my songs.”
“We started to play my song ‘These Days,’ and my world changed,” Browne wrote on Instagram on March 17. “His playing was so emotional, and immediate – it cast a spell over me and everyone there. It didn’t matter that he had never heard the song before. What he was playing made it more emotional and more real than it had ever sounded in the years I had played it alone.”
“One of the most talented musicians there has ever been,” Graham Nash wrote. “David could play pretty much any instrument you put in front of him with incredible versatility and expression.”
Lindley could often be found in the studio working alongside other members of The Section, a crew of session musicians who shaped the sound of soft rock in the 1970s. “They were some of the most creative musicians around,” David Crosby, who hired Lindley in 1975, told Rolling Stone back in 2013. “You never had to tell them what to play. You sang them a song and got the fuck out of the way.”
Enjoy this special tribute to David Lindley as we listen to him accompany Jackson Browne at the Philadelphia Folk Festival in August of 2006.

Whether picking, plucking, or using a skillful slide, Kimbel brings to the stage vision of the roots of American Music that conjures up everything from rambling railroad trains to dark and lonely nights of solitary traveling"... "Andy Kimbel is an acoustic blues guitar fingerpicker and string-bender!... " "Intelligent, soulful songwriting and dazzling guitar work." . . . . Acoustic Guitar Magazine
” He keeps his audiences enticed with a great flow and versatility as his fingers move effortlessly across the neck of the guitar while picking rhythm patterns and leads simultaneously improvising with his own song compositions and a selection of traditional standards.“. . . Philadelphia Inquirer
Who are they all talking about? Our Andy and Amanda Show Show co-host of course....
Over the last 33 years, Andy Kimbel as an “indie” artist, and on occasion with his backing AK Express band, has performed over 2000 shows at a variety of venues from large festivals and concert halls to smaller more intimate folk clubs, house concerts and listening rooms as well as several television and radio show appearances that included a regular spot on QVC playing to a half million people prime time Wednesday nights earlier in his career.
Andy delivers spirited, dynamically-packed performances while showcasing both self-penned original songs and strong interpretations of early classic country-blues and early 70's based folk while captivating audiences with his highly reviewed acoustic guitar work. Whether it be a performance for 40 people at a folk club or house concert, thousands at a festival or millions on television, Kimbel makes the stage his home and it shows.

-The hay is in the barn on the league's playoff teams. At this point, we know who and what all of these teams are. Or do we?
-Inflation is expected to have declined in December, but it may not be enough to stop the Fed! The pace of consumer inflation is expected to have fallen slightly in December from the prior month because of a sharp drop in gasoline and energy prices, but the annual rate is still likely to remain uncomfortably high. According to Dow Jones, economists now expect a decline of 0.1% in the consumer price index on a monthly basis, but inflation is still expected to climb at a 6.5% rate from the prior year. Oh boy!
- The drafters of our Constitution were well aware of the threat of foreign influence over U.S. office holders when they wrote the Emoluments Clause, which prohibits anyone holding a position of trust with the United States government from receiving any emoluments — i.e. profits and benefits — from any foreign state.. Hmmm.... Trump’s tax returns show he was a bigger risk than we realized. If Congress had known about Trump's foreign bank accounts earlier, they could very well have looked into them. Before the beginning of the Trump presidency, he was likely in violation of the Emoluments Clause on the day he took office.
- Lots to talk about, but it is the Friday show. Let's try and keep it light and have some fun on the Andy and Amanda Show! 515-605-9888

Donald Trump Lied about stealing top secret and classified documents, Donald Trump refused to turn those documents over, even lied to his own attorneys, Donald Trump allegedly still has documents hidden somewhere from empty file folders.
Donald Trump is a deceitful self serving scam artist. Are we done yet? Hell no!
The GOP's first bill exposes the false promise of right-wing populism. Republicans' IRS bill doesn’t help the middle class. It helps rich tax cheats! The GOP’s first policy bill would defund President Biden's efforts to provide assistance to the IRS crack down on tax cheats. It’s a bill that’s predicated on disinformation, whose only real constituency is wealthy people who don’t want to pay their fair share. And it underscores how the Republican Party’s so-called populism isn’t about empowering the working class it’s about exploiting them!
- N.Y. Republicans call on lying Rep. George Santos to step down. Have any GOP House members done the same? Interesting ey'?
- Trumpism is no longer just America’s problem. Brazil’s rioters are part of a global effort to subvert democracy. The similarities between the images of Jan. 8 and those of the Jan. 6, 2021, coup attempt in the U.S. suggest the use of a similar playbook. Like Donald Trump, Bolsonaro engaged in relentless misleading information campaigns designed to discredit his country’s electoral system.
- Not so sure we'll touch upon these topics as the Andy and Amanda Show is unscripted, raw live talk radio (515-605-9888). Approaching three years and almost 500 episodes, the two co- hosts and their show coordinator Cornell Butler have never met and do the show from the UK , California and Delaware. Lots of fun , great guests and enjoyable sometimes insightful conversation. Tune in!
